Farmers Without Borders
Although there are more than a thousand such projects underway, no single entity currently networks these efforts or tracks their overlapping activities. Our goal is to create and maintain a website where the people involved with these efforts can meet, learn about each other, gain support, share ideas, and debate best practices.
The value of this would be to: Strengthen the integrity and efficacy of the work being done (and reduce the duplication of efforts, the number of cross-purpose activities and repetition of mistakes); Create opportunities to share success stories, lessons learned and insights; Create a digital clearing house of resources and funding information; Help people who want to contribute time or money to such projects; Offer a resource for farmers and farming communities in the developing world who are looking for information on ongoing projects or support for their own initiatives; Establish an independent forum where existing projects can be discussed, praised and critiqued; and Develop an award-granting programme to promote and strengthen the most effective projects.
